HBI Calls on the Tri-Agencies to Place Consumers First with STLDI, Excepted Benefits Comment Letter

The Health Benefits Institute submitted comments today in response to the proposed rule entitled Short-Term, Limited-Duration Insurance; Independent, Noncoordinated Excepted Benefits Coverage; Level-Funded Plan Arrangements; and Tax Treatment of Certain Accident and Health Insurance, issued by the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Health and Human Services (the Departments). In our comments, we highlighted the importance of maintaining access to short term limited duration and fixed indemnity coverage, both of which deliver unique value to consumers. Also highlighted are the numerous flaws in the Departments’ reasoning for imposing draconian restrictions on these products.
